Ward 4 Member Margaret McKenna Decries “Strong-Arm” Tactics by State Education Leadership

Writing in The Boston Globe, esteemed education specialist Margaret McKenna speaks out about the deficiencies of the proposed “partnership” offered by State Education Commissioner Jeffrey Riley to Boston Mayor Michelle Wu. Margaret’s Letter to the Editor (June 27th, 2022) critiques Riley’s mandate that “lays out in excruciating detail what needs to be done and by when but no details on how. It requires much data, report writing, and auditing and many meetings. There is no vision and no direction on implementation, but there is a great amount of micromanaging signaled from Department of Elementary and Secondary Education staff.”

This disingenuous action, Margaret opines, “has been very difficult to watch.”
