Ben Siegel Urges Passage of the Common Start Bills

Long-time Ward 4 Committee member Dr. Ben Siegel, MD, FAAP has written “On Child’s Brain Development,” a Letter to the Editor published in the December 30th issue of The Boston Sun. Ben, a noted Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry, makes the case for passage of H. 489 and S. 301, legislation that would “strengthen public support for early childcare and early education programs to ensure greater stability for providers and greater accessibility and affordability for parents.”

An active supporter of the Common Start Coalition, Ben points out that the “program is good for parents who wish to work and most especially for single parents who need to work…This is the best program for Massachusetts families for support and equity now and for the future of our children.”

Ben has contributed to policy statements for the American Academy of Pediatricians.
