“Mel King was…informed by geography. A neighborhood. The South End.”

Kudos to Lew Finfer and Ruth Khowais for their eloquent tribute to civil rights icon and Ward 4 activist Mel King. Their article entitled “Leaders Took A Lifetime to Catch Up to Mel King” appears in the June, 2023 issue of The Fenway News.

“The South End was his parish. He not only lived here most of his life, the South End in its heyday before gentrification informed and developed his ethics and his politics,” they write.

“Mel was not ahead of his time. He was on time.”

Mel King’s legacy of activism informs and inspires the work of the Ward 4 Dems.
