Speaking to the Ward 4 Dems on January 21st, City Councilor At-Large Henry Santana pointed to the success of his first legislative filing supporting mixed-income social housing, “a model that invests public funds for the public good, and creates more housing that residents can truly afford.” After a year of collaboration with colleagues and the community, his “vision for innovative solutions to Boston’s housing affordability crisis” has become a reality.
Santana’s February 3rd newsletter announces, “The City Council and the Mayor have officially approved the $110 million Housing Accelerator Fund — a game-changing investment that will jumpstart the creation of more affordable housing and reduce income segregation in our city, all while continuously reinvesting the funds for our community. And that’s all with no new taxes, and no impact on the City’s budget. This is a massive step forward, but it’s just the beginning. With your continued support, we’re building the foundation for a more affordable Boston for generations to come.”
We commend Councilor Santana for his steadfast advocacy and belief that affordable housing is a public good and collective responsibility.
