”We call on the Massachusetts Democratic Party Leadership to demonstrate a tangible commitment to activism…”

The Boston Ward 4 Dems Executive Board joined with members of the Boston WardWorks Alliance to address a number of concerns that arose at the September 2025 MassDems Convention. In an October, 2025 letter written to Steve Kerrigan, Chair of the MassDems, the coalition criticized attempts “to water down our platform and limit our ability to convene.”

“In a time where we need strength, the proposed 2025 Mass Dems platform was weak. The platform committee wholesale eliminated the sections on Ethics and Transparency, Immigration, Racial Justice, Reproductive Health, and Voting & Democracy and eliminated key policy commitments in the 2021 platform. Party activists fought for decades for many of the planks, and it was unacceptable for you to lead an effort which tried to eliminate them under the guise of creating a larger tent.”

The letter also emphasizes the urgency of annual conventions as opportunities for party-building, training, and generating support for Democratic values.
