Fenway News Op-ed: “Where, Exactly, Do I Vote?”

New polling location created confusion for many voters during the recent mid-summer election. In a Guest Opinion in the September issue of The Fenway News, Ward 4 Vice Chair Jonathan Cohn and Co-chair Carol Lasky point to the need for “big-picture changes like same-day voter registration and year-round voter education, as well as…greater public education around the new map and a more deliberative process for polling location siting.” They also provide suggestions for the next election round, including spreading the word about the state’s Where Do I Vote? website.

The op-ed draws on the experiences of Ward 4 poll workers Andrea Olmstead, Ruth Rothstein and Grant Young, as well as Co-chair Ryan Hatcher, who notes, “Since COVID, I don’t think I’ve voted in the same location (or if at the same location, via the same doorway) twice in a row.”
